The West-East One-Day Pilgrimage began at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, Illinois. After coming together as a pilgrim group, we boarded the bus and Fr. David Uribe, OMI said a blessing and we began our pilgrimage.
We traveled into St. Louis, MO, specifically to the Oratory of St. Francis de Sales just south of downtown. Upon arriving, we learned of the history of this Roman Catholic parish through the decades. We toured the Church and we were able to leisurely look around and enjoy the beautiful architecture. Since 2005, the parish celebrates parish life under the extraordinary form, thus observing the Roman Missal of 1962.
Our next pilgrimage stop was St. Raymond’s Maronite Cathedral where we enjoyed local Lebanese cuisine for lunch in their parish hall. After lunch, we walked into the Cathedral and meet with their Rector, Chorbishop Moussa B Joseph, who instructed us on the traditions of the Maronite Church. We browsed the sanctuary and enjoyed the beautiful serenity of the Church. We also visited the outdoor Shrine to Our Lady of St. Louis at the end of the parking lot.
We concluded our pilgrimage back at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows for Mass and a final blessing.
