The Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate USA, a division of Oblate Service Corporation, is seeking applicants for a GIFT ADVISOR. MAMI USA is a nonprofit mission development and fundraising office, located in Belleville, Illinois and San Antonio, TX.

POSITION: Gift Advisor- Full-Time, Exempt

LOCATION: San Antonio, TX office

POSITION SUMMARY: The Gift Advisor is responsible for raising revenue for the Missionary Oblates by cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding special donors within an assigned territory for major gifts, charitable gift annuities, bequests, and other planned gifts. This is a salaried position which requires working evenings and potentially some weekends to connect with donors when they are most available. Cultivate the generosity of our best donors and donor prospects within one’s territory to financially support the work of the Missionary Association of Mary Immaculate, USA. This cultivation process includes conducting quality face-to-face visits with donors in a minimum of 60 households annually within the defined territory, COVID or other conditions permitting. Writing 40+ letters and notes every month plus acknowledging donors who are assigned to you for all their gifts. Calling donors throughout the year (40+ per month) on their birthdays, special holidays, general cultivation, and in anticipation of face-to-face visits. It also includes “thank you calls” for recent gifts. Follow-up with these donors includes Summarizing key points of visit, thanking donor, and sending a proposal letter where applicable. Working with the Director, CPG, to identify opportunities to engage Oblates in donor cultivation, solicitation, and/or stewardship. Regularly and accurately maintaining donor files on the database and in hard files after every communication and visit. The Gift Advisor will: Establish goals for each donor visit, i.e., educating donors on various Charitable and Planned Giving vehicles, motivating them to support capital campaigns, asking for financial support, etc. Set up travel schedules/itineraries and estimated budgets in advance of trips to maximize the number of donors and prospects visited. Become knowledgeable about the Missionary Oblates and meet with Oblates as needed. Complete weekly and monthly activity reports and expense reports for the Director of Charitable and Planned Giving. Attend various functions throughout the year, including occasional evenings and weekends. Be an integral part of the Charitable and Planned Giving team, providing advice and feedback, suggesting marketing strategies, sharing success stories, and working on special projects when needed. Actively seek to further one’s education and credentials through professional seminars, meetings, and conferences. Perform other duties as assigned

WORK HOURS: Office hours-Monday-Friday

EDUCATION/SKILLS:

  • An understanding of the Catholic faith (and eventually of the Oblate ministry) is required.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work and travel independently.
  • Candidate must be highly motivated and enthusiastic and have strong interpersonal/relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs, required.
  • Knowledge of planned giving vehicles, preferred.
  • Bilingual oral and written skills (English and Spanish), required.
  • The Gift Advisor candidate should have two or more years of fundraising experience, required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant equivalent experience in lieu of degree, required.
  • Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE,) Certified Specialist in Planned Giving (SCPG,) Certified Gift Planning Associate (CCPA,) Charitable Gift Planning Professional (CGPP) or similar certification, preferred.
