Standing with Mary at the Foot of the Cross: The Sign of Healing and Hope

Sunday, July 28:  Standing with Mary at the foot of the Cross: Willingly embracing the Cross in our lives.
The grieving Mother stood weeping beside the cross where her Son was hanging.
Holy mother, grant that the wounds of the Crucified drive deep into my heart.

Monday, July 29: Standing with Mary at the Foot of the Cross:  When suffering and grief pierce our hearts
Through her weeping soul, compassionate and grieving, a sword passed.
That of your wounded Son, who is deigned to suffer for me, I may share the pain.

Tuesday, July 30: Standing with Mary at the Foot of the Cross:  When loved ones suffer
O how sad and afflicted was that blessed Mother of the Only-begotten!
Let me sincerely weep with you, bemoan the Crucified, for as long as I live.

Wednesday, July 31: Standing with Mary at the Foot of the Cross:  Bringing healing and reconciliation to our lives and our relationships – the power of tears
Who is the person who would not weep seeing the Mother of Christ in such agony?
Chosen Virgin of virgins, be not bitter with me,
let me stand beside the cross with you and weep with thee

Thursday, August 1: Standing with Mary at the Foot of the Cross:  Offering hope to the world through compassion and witness of Christian life
Who would not be able to feel compassion on beholding Christ’s mother suffering with her Son?
Grant that I may bear the death of Christ, share his Passion, and commemorate His wounds.

Friday, August 2: Standing with Mary at the Foot of the Cross:  Conversion – how my sin and unfaithfulness affect others
For the sins of his people she saw Jesus in torment and subjected to the scourge.
let me be wounded with his wounds, inebriated by the Cross because of love for the Son.

Saturday, August 3: Standing with Mary at the Foot of the Cross:  Forgiving and seeking forgiveness in life
She saw her sweet offspring dying, forsaken, while He gave up his spirit.
Inflame and set on fire, May I be defended by you, Virgin, on the day of judgement.

Sunday, August 4: Standing with Mary at the Foot of the Cross:  The victory of love over suffering and death
O Mother, fountain of love, make me feel the power of sorrow, that I may grieve with you.
Christ, when it is time to  pass away, grant that through your Mother I may come to the palm of victory.

Sunday, August 5: Standing with Mary at the Foot of the Cross:  The purifying power of sufferings to love the Lord above all and to become holy
Grant that my heart may burn in the love of Christ my Lord, that I may greatly please him.
When my body dies, grant that my soul is given the glory of paradise.  Amen.
