A History of Heaven and Hell
For centuries thinkers both religious and secular have pondered the mystery of the afterlife. What happens when we die? Is there a place of eternal bliss – or eternal punishment? Will everyone experience happiness in the afterlife – or just some? Will we continue to exist at all? In this three-session series we will explore the mystery of heaven and hell as it evolved in ancient Greek thought, in ancient Judaism, at the time of Jesus and in the theology of early Christianity.
