Pastoral Formation Institute at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows
Wednesdays, 7 pm – 9:30 pm – Begins Wednesday, August 25
Orientation Wednesday, August 18
In a collaboration between the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, Oblate School of Theology (San Antonio) and the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, we are introducing a new initiative here at the Shrine to begin in August 2021. Bishop McGovern, Bishop of Belleville, IL has provided a letter of support to promote this new collaboration.
The Pastoral Formation Institute is a two-year basic adult faith formation conducted in two languages, English & Español. This two year certificate program is geared for Catholics to learn more about their faith. As a certificate program, students are enrolled into a cohort group and are taught one night a week through three modules per semester for four semesters. Upon completion, students will receive a foundational understanding of the Catholic faith, initial spiritual formation in the rich traditions of prayer and spirituality in the Church, and an introduction to skills in lay ministry. Areas of studies include the Bible, the Creed, Church History, Sacraments, Christian Life & Morality and Prayer & Life. Cost for the certificate program is approximately $475 per year. Scholarships may be available for those in need.
Modules are offered in person at the OLS Shrine and professors are live-streamed from San Antonio on Wednesday from 7 pm – 9:30 pm. A facilitator will be present with the cohort to get small group discussions moving so discussions can be brought together with students in San Antonio.
